Australia, New Zealand getting their own shopDisney sites

If you live in a country without its own shopDisney warehouse, accessing items through the site is prohibitively costly. Soon though, residents of Australia and New Zealand will soon have easier access to Disney products.

Disney just announced that shopDisney.com.au and shopDisney.com.nz will both launch at some point in June. The Instagram post announcing the introduction promises “a curated selection of products from our global partners including Disney Parks, The Disney Store Japan & many more.”

Indeed, the products will be distributed from Disney’s Asia-Pacific warehouse, suggesting access to a lot of the unique products associated with the Japanese market.

Prices will be in Australian or New Zealand dollars, and delivery in 3 to 5 business days through DHL. Currently, the two countries are only allowed to purchase from shopDisney UK in Pounds Sterling, with free delivery only on orders over £120.

shopDisney is promising locals items from The Star Wars: A New Hope collection, “straight from Star Wars Celebration.” An earlier post highlighted the Mickey Mouse: The Main Attraction collectible series.

The lack of local fulfillment centres worldwide is a thorn for many Disney fans. When The Disney Store locations in Canada closed, for example, company signage directed people to go online. But for Disney Store regulars in the country, the cost just isn’t worth it: prices often double when shipping and border tariffs are added.
