Star Wars Museum Project Debates Vader Merchandise
The biggest Star Wars collectors have been working for a while to establish The Saga Museum of Star Wars Memorabilia, featuring the best of their collective collections. So why not make the artifact selection into a reality show with a public vote?
This week, the theme is Darth Vader.
You know the iconic Star Wars action figure carrying cases? Kenner tried a gold version, and only a small selection are known to survive. Early author in the collecting space Steve Sansweet brought this.
Retailers get their first look at the year’s top toys at Toy Fair in New York. But productions can often change between the prototype on display and what hits store shelves. That’s the case for telescopic lightsabres, that turned out to be too brittle. The figures on their card, as seen at the event made it into Lisa Stevens’ collection.
Ralph McQuarrie designed The Empire Strikes Back crew patch, which is rare itself. But Gus Lopez brought the original artwork design.
Duncan Jenkins brought Darth Vader slippers in surprisingly good condition for something from 1977. “These are so darn cute, for something so evil,” Dan Lanigan comments.
The winner of the first episode was revealed two days ago on a livestream, a little more than 27 minutes in.
