Review: LEGO’s Marvel Super Heroes Mighty Micros Series

This past Easter weekend, I purchased the new LEGO Marvel Super Heroes Mighty Micros sets, which I first saw on display at Toy Fair 2016. Each of the Mighty Micros sets come with two Mighty Micro Minifigures and two vehicle builds. There are three Marvel Super Heroes sets: Hulk vs. Ultron (76066, 80 pcs), Captain America vs. Red Skull (76065, 95 pcs), and Spider-Man vs. Green Goblin (76064, 85 pcs). Each set retails for about $10, and are rated ages 5-12.

Last night, I had a fun time building these face-off sets. Let’s check them out.

The great thing about these Minifigures are that they… aren’t necessarily Minifigures. Each figure has a shrunken lower torso piece, one that has no articulation. I view them as “toddler” versions of their Minifigure selves. Also, each has a unique, comic book look and style. I love the crazy faces some of them are making.

In addition to the vehicles, each Minifigure comes with an accessory: Hulk has a chicken drumstick and Ultron has a wrench, Captain America has his shield and Red Skull has the Tesseract, and Spider-Man has a camera and Green Goblin a pumpkin bomb.

I am really liking these designs, and for the price point I feel these 2-pks are more than fair, especially in a market where sometimes the build packs are overly expensive for the piece and Minifigure count. Two Minifigures and 80+ pieces, with unique builds, for $10 is very economical.

Want to add these sets to your collection? I got mine this weekend at Barnes and Noble, but I have also seen them at Toys ‘R’ Us and Target, and I am sure they are available in at most mass-market retailers, and possibly even some comic book and specialty stores.

Have you picked up these sets? What are your thoughts? Let us know in the comments below.
