Marvel Ant-Man & The Wasp – Quantum Realm Explorers LEGO (76109) Review

With the release of the new Marvel movie, Ant-Man and the Wasp, LEGO have released the Quantum Realm Explorers set.  The Quantum Vehicle features an opening, bug-eye-shaped minifigure cockpit, adjustable insect arms, stud shooters and adjustable engines for launch, hover and flight modes.

This set also includes 3 minifigures Ant-Man, The Wasp and Ghost, plus a gold-colored trophy element.   The 3 minifigures are easily one of the best thing about this set, since your getting the new main characters plus the villain, usually the main characters are spread out among different sets from the range, but because there is only one set based on the Ant-Man and the Wasp movie, they are all included, which is a big benefit.

The actual figures themselves are great, I love the attention to detail on their chests and the helmet’s for Wasp and Ant-Man are also very reflective of the characters, though I’m not sure why they put some printed faces on the Wasp, since under her helmet, you can’t see the face.  I’m also glad they made two very different choices for Ghost, though I prefer the masked version.

The vehicle itself was fun to build and while its a little similar to the “Thor’s Weapon Quest” set from the Infinity War range, I think this one is far superior.  It has tons of character and I really like the moving panels on the side.  The back of the vehicle reminded me of some of the Star Wars ships, but overall this is one of the better vehicles at this price point I’ve seen in a while.

Another great design piece is the cockpit, the way the three domes come together is great and I also like how they’ve included some blasters and sliding pieces to the bottom, to give it plenty of playing options.

OVERALL:  With this set coming in at around $20/£20, it is very reasonable, with three great Minifigures plus a decent size vehicle, this is a easy recommendation.  It looks good on display and can also be played with by younger builders.

REVIEW SCORE: 9 out of 10
