3 Things I Didn’t Know About the World’s Largest Disney Store
Despite being the world’s largest location of Disney Store, Shanghai’s location rarely makes the news. So I was enthused to see a tour of that location by travel vlogger Miles Reza, as part of his “Miles Away” series.
A few months ago, he walked around part of the five level Disney Home, a housewares store at Shanghai Disney Town, their shopping village.
(The videos are quite belated, with Christmas trees at Disney Store.)
A few thoughts after watching the Disney Store video, posted just days ago:
- There’s an elaborately decorated clock tower outside, featuring statues of Donald, Minnie, Goofy, and Pluto.
- You can get photos in a booth themed to Zootopia 2.
- They have a ton of neat obscurities, like plush of the dancing seagulls from Olaf’s song “Summer” in the original Frozen, Reuben, the sandwich eating experiment from Lilo & Stitch‘s television series, or plush of Hamm and Rex playing video games.
Shanghai previously had two physical locations of Disney Store, but the one in HKRI Taikoo Hui Shopping Centre closed in 2022, having opened in 2017. The location shown in the video above opened in 2015, and is still in operation.
