Disney Cruise Line Signs 15-Year Deal To Keep Sailing To Icy Strait Point
Disney Cruise Line fans visiting Alaska will be glad to hear that Disney has signed a new 15-year agreement with the Huna Totem Corporation to secure preferential access at Icy Strait Point, which means that Disney Cruise Line guests will continue to enjoy visiting the Indigenous-owned destination through at least 2041.
Situated on the shores of Hoonah, Icy Strait Point offers visitors an authentic connection to Huna Tlingit culture alongside world-class wildlife viewing and outdoor recreation. The cruise destination is the largest employer in Hoonah and was developed by HTC to curate authentic Alaska experiences that uplift the community’s people and inspire all who visit.
The agreement reflects a shared commitment to supporting tourism in Southeast Alaska while creating opportunities for guests to experience the region’s culture, heritage and natural beauty.
Howard Sherman, Huna Totem Tourism Group President, said in a statement regarding the new deal:
“Disney Cruise Line has been an important part of the Icy Strait Point story for nearly a decade, and we’re grateful to build on that relationship through this agreement. Each Disney Cruise Line visit helps support local jobs, businesses and economic opportunity in Hoonah while creating meaningful connections between guests and the people who call this place home.”
The agreement secures Disney Cruise Line preferential docking at Icy Strait Point for one vessel each week and includes a minimum annual passenger guarantee, supporting future Alaska sailings that connect Disney guests with the culture, wildlife and natural beauty of Southeast Alaska.
Earlier this year, Disney Cruise Line expanded its Alaska presence to two ships, with select seven-night itineraries aboard the Disney Magic and Disney Wonder featuring calls at Icy Strait Point.

This agreement will help ensure our guests can continue to enjoy the unique experiences that have made Icy Strait Point a fan-favorite destination.”
Roger’s Take: Having previously visited Icy Strait Point, I’m really glad Disney has secured a long-term deal to keep visitors heading to this beautiful part of the world. It’s a unique place, with some amazing sights and fantastic wildlife, but also has the infrastructure in place to handle thousands of guests on any given day.
