D23: Spike the Bee Getting a Little Golden Book, 2027
In recent years, Disney Parks attractions have been receiving a delightful line of Little Golden Books from Random House.
Two creatives from behind the line took to the stage at D23 to share about the tradition going back to the original opening of Disneyland, and the recent revival. They share about the inspiration and intention behind books like Figment.
In recent years, Spike the Bee increasingly has been used as a mascot for Epcot’s International Flower and Garden Festival. This bee-autiful connection appears here to stay, as in February 2027, Spike the Bee & Donald Duck will be released.
According to the Random House website:
While searching for unique flowers to make delicious honey, Spike the Bee discovers the floral wonderland of the annual EPCOT International Flower & Garden Festival! But Spike’s adventure is short-lived when he accidentally angers the head gardener, Donald Duck. Inspired by the late 1940s and 1950s Donald Duck cartoon shorts where Spike first appeared, this comedic story of an unlikely friendship is perfect for Disney and Little Golden Book fans of all ages!
The 24-page hardcover will retail for $6.99.
