Canada: Toys “R” Us Status Check for All 13 Locations
The status of your local Toys “R” Us varies greatly, depending on where in Canada you’re located. We snooped around to check the pulse on all 13 remaining locations.
(Intriguingly, it looks like all the remaining store’s Instagram accounts have been either deleted or hidden. Only closed stores and the official account remain on the social media site.)
Barrie: The Ontario city used to have two stores, but the other location closed in 2025. The remaining location’s liquidation signs were removed temporarily, but have returned, BarrieToday.com reports. They called the store for a closing date, but were offered simply that it’ll be “very fast.”
Hamilton: Just a week ago, a Google review noted “The customer service here was really great! We got someone to explain some features of the stroller to us, which was helpful in us making a decision.” The attached photos show a store that looks to be packed with product as if this is years gone by.
Kildonan (Winnipeg): The 36-year-old store is clearing everything, even fixtures, reports The Winnipeg Free Press. There’s no closure date, the store referred to head office, and the head office didn’t reply. AccessWinnipeg has posted photos of the sales at both stores in the city.
Kitchener: Signs for the closure were reported in January by CityNews Kitchener, as the property remains for sale.
Lethbridge: This store can be yours for $14 million. It’s been on the market for 327 days.
Nepean: Google reviews suggest that this store is in liquidation.
North Edmonton: Kudos to this location, which is still going the extra mile to reply to Google Maps ratings, as recently as three weeks ago. Three weeks ago, one of the replies noted that they were “expecting 30 pallets of merchandise” within a few days.
Polo Park (Winnipeg): Three weeks ago, this location was still displaying “Open for Business” signs, but a week ago, The Winnipeg Free Press shared that it too now had closure signs. Toys “R” Us head office also refused to comment on this location. Perhaps the most surprising photo from AccessWinnipeg? A plush rack with toys of The Flintstones, Garfield, and Rose from The Golden Girls.
Regina: An email to Toys “R” Us confirms that the Regina store is closing, with some products discounted by 80%. Some locals comment that no date was given, while others claim “end of August.”
Sarnia: This location is inside Lambton Mall, and it too is surprisingly replying to Google comments quite commendably.
Sherway: Just outside of the upscale Sherway Garden shopping centre, it’s still actively replying to Google reviews. In one reply, they note “our store is … open and recently received a large shipment of new inventory that we’re excited to share with our customers.”
South Edmonton: A Reddit post yesterday shared that the store has signs in its window reading “This store remains open for business.” Nevertheless, the property remains up for sale, one reply notes.
Whitby: This location remains on sale.
