Canada: Final Day for Whitby’s Toys “R” Us is Today

Today is the final day for Whitby’s location of Toys “R” Us, which will bring the chain to just six locations.

Whitby’s location of Toys “R” Us opened in mid-October 1985, tied for sixth in the province with Kitchener. Previous openings were in Brampton, London, Hamilton (all autumn 1984), Thornhill (November 1984), and Sherway (September 1985).

A Spirit Halloween is scheduled to open in the location in mid-September.

Meanwhile Retail-Insider reports that the former Toys “R” Us in Dartmouth, Nova Scotia is being prepared as a new No Frills. Two other locations owned by the same landlord are in discussion with new tenants.
