Fios by Verizon Becomes “Disney Movies Anywhere” Partner
To tie in with the digital release of the live action version of “The Jungle Book”, from today, Fios by Verizon has become the first multichannel video programming distributor to join Disney Movies Anywhere, which is a cloud-based digital movie service platform.
U.S Fios by Verizon customers can now immediately connect their digital movie collections across the Disney Movies Anywhere ecosystem and watch them from the living room or a wide array of mobile devices, as well as purchase directly from Fios by Verizon on supported Disney Movies Anywhere platforms.
With Disney Movies Anywhere, Fios by Verizon subscribers can enjoy an enriched home entertainment experience with easy access to family-friendly content and watch their interconnected Disney Movies Anywhere library of films through their existing set-top box.
Disney Movies Anywhere has a limited time offer, where they are offering a free digital copy of Disney•Pixar’s Monsters, Inc. to new and existing members who connect an iTunes, Amazon Video, VUDU, Google Play, Microsoft Movies & TV and now Fios by Verizon account to Disney Movies Anywhere. Offer is valid through September 7th, 2016.
Our Take:
Unlike the music industry which quickly saw one digital platform dominate, within the movie division, having Disney unite its digital purchases will help convince customers to buy digital over physical, with less worry about that platform not being supported in the long run.
