Kingdom Hearts 3 Adds New Critical Mode

Square Enix have updated Kingdom Hearts 3 with a new “Critical” mode, which available free to all owners of the game.  This new mode makes the game much harder, along with adding new abilities and modifies AI behaviors to give players a new, engaging experience with Kingdom Hearts 3. 

Game director Tetsuya Nomura took to Twitter on Easter Monday to confirm the new mode:

Greetings, it’s been a while since I last posted. Spring is here, and I hope everyone is doing well. #KingdomHearts III’s long-awaited Critical Mode is available as a free update tomorrow (PT). We’ve changed things up from the previous games, so I hope you enjoy

The latest update also fixes other quality of life issues including:

1.04
– Critical mode added, can use new abilities
– Some enemy behavior changed
– You can check Frozen Slider minigame treasure from the mobile portal  (Gummiphone) or at the results screen
– Synthesis items you already synthesized will have checkmarks in Moogle Shop
– Game help messages added
– Various fixes

1.05
– When you start a “new game”, you can bring over stuff like Keyblades from your clear save data
– Photo mode change, now you can store up to 200 photos
– Various fixes
