2020 is almost over: Calendars for 2021 out soon

As others have quipped, “2020 has been a long decade.” With roughly five months to go until Christmas, the various calendar makers are starting to release their 2021 wall art. Let’s see what’s on offer so far.

Calendars listed below by Andrews McMeel have already been released. Chronicle Books’ titles will be available next Tuesday, July 28.A woman in a white hood looks to the viewer.

I’m not sure who the illustrator is for Star Wars: Women of the Galaxy (Chronicle Books, $14.99), but I want to follow them on Instagram. It’s great to see the saga’s female character get their due with what looks to be original artwork.

They are heroes and villains, Sith and Jedi, senators and scoundrels, mothers, mercenaries, artists, pilots. . . . Celebrate the dynamic women of the Star Wars™ galaxy with this vibrant calendar, featuring 13 of the saga’s most pivotal female characters.

A boy rides an astrometric droid. His father, in armour, looks on in slight confusion.

For the young fathers in your life, this popular book series is now a calendar (Chronicle Books, $14.99).

From the New York Times bestselling series, featuring new artwork! Celebrate a year of life lessons with Darth Vader™ as he rules the Galactic Empire while keeping an eye on his rebellious kids, Luke and Leia.

A man in armour guards a baby, that looks like Yoda.

If you’re British, Danilo will be releasing a calendar of The Mandalorian (£9.99) in October. They’re also offering one of the original Star Wars trilogy, of The Nightmare Before Christmas, and of Frozen 2.

A mermaid stares at a man, longingly, with an ocean scene below and a castle behind them.

The Disney Dreams Collection 2021 (Andrews McMeel Publishing, $14.99) offers up interpretations of Disney characters by Thomas Kinkade, the “painter of light.” Scenes vary from The Lion King to Winnie the Pooh.

The Disney Dreams Collection 2021 Wall Calendar captures the timeless magic of classic Disney stories and their captivating characters in settings imagined by Thomas Kinkade Studios.

A space monster dances the hula.

Stitch’s Great Escape may have just been thrown out of the Magic Kingdom, but he’s still popular enough to warrant his own calendar. I’m guessing that Disney Stitch isn’t meant for sale in North America, though: Amazon suggests a $77.71 fee to ship it to Canada. Yikes!

(Mead did sell their own 2020 Stitch calendar, so perhaps a cheaper alternative will pop up soon enough.)

Scattered movie posters.

An interesting selection of old Disney animated movie posters, titled appropriately, Disney Classic Posters (Mead, $14.99). The official description says it ranges “from Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs to The Jungle Book“, suggesting that they’re all from Walt’s lifetime.

Buyer beware: many of the other calendars on Mead’s website are actually from 2020.
