Marvel Stuns at Toronto Comic Con with Two Exclusive Offerings

While it is a much smaller convention than Fan Expo Canada, Marvel Studios and Disney saw it fit to bring two Marvel booths at Toronto Comic Con, essentially a scaled down Fan Expo located in the Northern Building. The first booth is Marvel Studios’ Daredevil Born Again.

The booth had two themed sets with a full Daredevil costume on display on one side and a Kingpin costume on the other side in a replica of Wilson Fisk’s mayor office. The Daredevil side has a themed graffiti wall with some props from Josie’s and the wrestling centre Matt Murdock previously used.

A Marvel Studios volunteer stood at the Kingpin side to take photos of convention attendees at Wilson Fisk’s desk featuring themed items from the series. This was a pleasant experience that barely had a line when the convention first opened. It brings me joy that Disney decided to attend the small convention this time around.

Near the entrance to the convention centre was the second Marvel Studios booth, this one was much more bold since it was a booth meant to resemble a SHIELD centre as attendees were auditioning to be superheroes along with the candy coated chocolate characters from Mars’ M&M’s candy.

Character cardboard cutouts were all over the booth with some obscure characrers like Yelena and Elektra being represented. Noticeably, the campaign does not use characters from the Spider-Man branch of Marvel.

Full packages of the candy with these new versions of the characters were on display and given for free to all attendees after their auditions. Volunteers walked across the line giving a lot of free samples from the following flavours : Chocolate, Peanut, Minis, Peanut Butter. During the 20 minutes I was in line, I was given about 5 samples, they were very generous. Although on Sunday, they made sure to only give one sample per person.

While in line, volunteers would question the attendees’ knowledge of Marvel characters. When it is your turn, you give them your name and e-mail address then take a Polaroid superhero pose. You are given the photo and a full package of either Chocolate or Peanut to enjoy, if you are local to Toronto, please keep it handy

This pass is essentially your ticket to an event Mars and Marvel Studios will be holding in Toronto in May to push the partnership even further. This was pretty fun, got to do it twice while I was at the convention. It was a good way to get free snacks.
