Ahsoka Biography for Kids Intriguing Concept: Review
DK Publishing has offered an intriguing format with Star Wars Ahsoka: Rebel Jedi. Available in paperback, hardcover, and Kindle formats, it’s an entire volume for kids devoted to the biography of one character.
Fictitious biography based on a media franchise isn’t anything new. Worlds of the Federation, for instance, was released in 1989 as support to Star Trek, and DK itself has published many editions of the Star Wars Character Encyclopedia since 2011. But this kids’ book eschews the catalogue approach and instead mimics the sort of book you’d get for a historic figure or pop star. This same book series includes a volume on Pope Leo XIV!
There’s ample reference to plot lines of The Clone Wars and Rebels, but it’s told in an instructive fashion, as opposed to as a narrative. It takes time to explain the background of the various characters she interacts with, a gentle approach for the young readers dipping their toe into Star Wars’ extensive mythology. A glossary, quiz, and index are included.
