First Look Inside Disney Store’s New Format
Ross Park Mall, near Pittsburgh, is set to open the first Disney Store Limited Time in America this Saturday.
It’s a new format for the USA, as a standalone store operated by a separate company. Go! Retail Group is best known for their Toys”R”Us reboot and Calendars.com stores. But it harkens back to the brief era between 2004 and 2007 where The Children’s Place owned Disney Store, and it’s the same as the mouse house offers in other countries.
CBS Pittsburgh offers us the first look at the new store, which includes Pittsburgh-specific merchandise, as well as products from the parks. Shoppers can sign up in person for a return time to the store, using a QR code, so they’re not stuck waiting in line. There was mention of them having the key ceremony familiar to all of us, but no mention of any sort of launch event for the 10 am opening.
Overall, it’s a perfectly pleasant location, but the interior design is modest. It gives vibes of the outlet stores, which begs the question, will Disney simply sell the Disney Store Outlets over to Go! Retail Group if this is a success? There’s little doubt this will attract customers, but it’s up to the store’s hiring practices to determine whether this will be as special as the previous iteration.
