“Museum Experience”: Puppets from “Nightmare Before Christmas” Shared by Top Collector

The host of former Disney+ series Prop Culture has an amazing collection of puppets from Tim Burton’s The Nightmare Before Christmas. Adam Savage of Mythbusters fame visited for his YouTube channel, Tested, and if you love the movie, it’s worth a watch.

Lanigan has become steward to a mix of actual puppets, figures created for lighting purposes, and puppet exteriors with the armatures cut out for use in later parts of the filming.

For instance, the polyurethane used for the hands of the Mayor liquify at a certain point. Lanigan reached out to Bonita R. DeCarlo, the film’s head of puppet fabrication, who used casting of the original pieces that she used to create silicone over the original armatures. The same is true for Sally.

Lanigan also has the city hall set. It’s big. “Did you use the wood from those boxes to make a weekend house?, Savage quips.
