New Techno Remixes of Disney Songs Strictly for Tots: Review

Disney has long released covers of its songs, whether in the MTV era with Simply Mad About the Mouse on VHS, or Disney Channel stars and other pop idols with the Disneymania CD series.

So it’s not unexpected that they’re trying the tactic again. The combo is surprising, though: techno and preschoolers.

Lenny Pearce is an Australian DJ, solely focused on kids’ music. He has over 65 million views on his YouTube channel, with more on other platforms, and reportedly has sold out international tours.

“Hot Dog!”, from Mickey Mouse Clubhouse, seems to use new vocals instead of the They Might Be Giants original. That’s likely the case for the Doc McStuffins theme song, “Toy Hospital,” but it’s certainly a closer match to China Anne McClain’s vocals.

Fall Out Boy’s Patrick Stump is credited for the “Do the Spidey (Remix),” so I believe some of the vocals are retained, but the electric guitar of the original substituted for an electronic beat. But the pace and energy remains largely the same. Marvel Iron Man and his Awesome Friends also remains basically as-is.

Pearce has more success on his own channel, as songs like “Five Little Ducks” can undergo a much greater change when it’s amped up than something already written for modern audiences. His Disney releases no doubt will have an audience of tots, but for adults, there’s not enough testing the limits of the tracks.
