Two Disney Stores Scheduled for September Opening: Mexico, Philippines
Disney Store’s physical worldwide expansion continues with two new stores in September, both opened by partner retailers.
Disney to expand in Mexico, in September and in 2026
Latin America’s first ever Disney Store opened August 22, in Mexico City, but it won’t be alone for long. El Financiero reports that a second location will open in Metepec, on September 5. An online job listing confirms the store will be at Galerías Metepec.
In an interview with Mexican media industry publication Produ, store representatives noted that September 5 is Lightning McQueen Day, which the opening will reportedly celebrate.
More locations are being evaluated currently, for opening in 2026.
Disney Store locations in Mexico are run by Liverpool department store, which runs 70 store-in-store locations across the country.
World’s 14th largest mall getting Disney Store
The Philippines are getting a second stand-alone Disney Store, at the world’s 14th largest mall.
The store opens at SM City North EDSA in Quezon City on September 6, The Manila Standard reports. Character appearances and “surprises” are scheduled.
SM City North EDSA is 5.3 million square feet, just a tad smaller than Mall of America’s 5.6 million square feet, and features 968 stores including 300 dining locations.
In the Philippines, Disney Store is operated by International Toy World, a store chain owned by shopping centre owners SM Group. The store is in partnership with Disney Retail Asia Pacific. The first location was opened at SM Mall of Asia in April 2024, itself the sixth largest shopping centre in the world.
Today, August 27, was the last day for a pop-up location of Disney Store by SM in SM City Clark.
Shanghai store still active
Japanese actress and singer Aya Hirano gives thumbs up to the Disney Store in Shanghai. Posting yesterday on Instagram, she shared that she had hoped to go to Shanghai Disneyland, but didn’t have time. “The store was park quality,” she commented.
Japan promotes the month ahead
