Disney Store Mexico to Grow to Five Locations: Store Executives
There are immediate plans to expand Disney Store Mexico to five locations, local media reports. Mexican blog Escaparte! attended the grand opening of the second Disney Store in the country, at Galerías Metepec. The announcement was made during the opening speeches.
For those envious in the US, UK, Canada, and beyond: Disney’s not bankrolling the expansion in Latin America. The House of Mouse has had a partnership with department store chain Liverpool since 2011, opening shop-in-shop Disney Stores in 2021. The same format is being used internationally, with Disney shepherding local retailers, just as they once guided The Children’s Place in the US and Canada.
Disney’s actively involvement is evident on Linkedin, with Vice President of Creative at The Walt Disney Company Bobby Hundreds applauding his Retail Creative/Design team “for painting a world that will entertain Mexicans for generations to come.”
Two vloggers doing a tour of the Metepec location point out a variety of exclusives, however it’s likely that claim is lost in translation. Stitch light-up ears, for instance, were at World of Disney in March, as was an “Ear”esistables vinyl of a Stitch Mickey-style hat. The latter is still available in select countries on the Disney Store Asia website.
Sections are devoted to kitchenwares, Halloween, baby goods, pins, the 30th anniversary of Toy Story, Cars, Disney Princesses, Star Wars, Pluto’s 95th birthday, and more.

The Metepec location is said to be slightly larger than the first Mexico City location. That location was listed as being 450 square metres, or a little over 4800 square feet, in the media. Fitting rooms have original wall decals for Frozen or Marvel
One Mexican outlet claims these are locations 29 and 30 worldwide, however there are 42 Disney Stores in Japan alone.
Also, Disney actually has a replica of the Partners statue that they can travel about to events. Who knew? It appeared at the opening of the first Disney Store in Mexico, a week ago.

Meanwhile, in the Philippines, it’s also the opening weekend for that nation’s second store. The new location is located in The Block Atrium of SM North EDSA. The store opened to the music of a marching band playing “Be Our Guest.” They continued to play songs including “A Whole New World” outside the store. Mickey and Minnie greeted guests on the main floor of the shopping centre.
If you attend during the opening weekend of September 6 to 7 in a “Disney-inspired outfit,” you have a chance of winning a “special prize,” according to the store’s Instagram. Metro Manila locals can also enter to win Disney Cruise Line merchandise, by taking a photo at a photo wall near the store, and tagging the appropriate accounts on Instagram.
