Japan: New Disney Store to open in Tokyo’s Tachikawa city

Disney Store continues to open new locations around the world, the latest announcement being Japan.

Tachikawa is a city in the western end of the Tokyo metropolis. A new Disney Store will open at LaLaport Tachikawa Tachihi, a shopping centre with 250 stores and restaurants, on December 3.

Store decoration will highlight illustrations by the Nine Old Men animators, a statue of Sorcerer Mickey from Fantasia, a photo area with Winnie the Pooh stuffed toys, and a Cinderella dressing room. The theme has been described by the local media as “picture books brought to life.”

The store will stock 1300 different items, including the Disney Store Japan exclusive “UniBEARsity,” “UniBestiez,” and the “Urupocha-chan” series.

Mickey and Minnie will appear at the opening in “dressy outfits,” and Donald Duck will wear a locally specific outfit. There’ll also be location-exclusive items.
