Disney Store Opens Fourth Mexican Location

On April 23, Mexico’s fourth ever standalone Disney Store opened at Galerías Monterrey, with Mickey and Minnie helping at the launch event.

According to local media, “this branch has a special section based on Monsters, Inc., including Boo’s iconic door,” the first store worldwide with this feature.

Three other standalone Disney Store locations are at two malls in Mexico City, and recently at Parque República, an outdoor mall in El Salitre, Querétaro. Five locations were teased by spokespeople when the first store launched last summer. All four locations so far are in the north end of the country.

While Disney has oversight over the chain, the store is run locally by Liverpool, a department store in the country. Liverpool also runs local locations of Toys’R’Us. As of 2021, Liverpool had 35 locations of Disney Store as shop-in-shop locations nationwide. It’s unclear how many Disney Store en Liverpool are currently open.
