Disney Villains Featured at Newest Disney Store Location, in Querétaro, Mexico
A new standalone location of Disney Store opened in recent weeks in Mexico.
The new store opened April 10 at Parque República, an outdoor mall in El Salitre, Querétaro. Just the day before, the shopping centre welcomed a Toys’r’us, the ninth in Mexico. Both brands are operated locally by department store chain Liverpool.
This is the third standalone, in addition to shop-in-shop location at Liverpool. The previous locations are at Mexico City’s Perisur, and at Galerías Metepec. When Disney Store began opening last summer, five standalone locations were promised.
The Disney Villains section is delightfully original. Some of the classic American Disney Stores did have statues of villains, but never an entire creepy area with a bubbling cauldron! Let’s hope that the upcoming American pop-up stores are any where near as creatively bold.
The director of Disney Consumer Products in Mexico, Alfonso Cortina, noted that area is their second-most important, given in part to their “high affinity for official products,” according to milenio.com. The country is considered the seventh-most important for Disney internationally.
The store has products in collaboration with Club de Futbol Monterrey. Mickey and Minnie posed for photos at the opening.
