Donald Glover, A.K.A. Childish Gambino, Cast As A Young Lando Calrissian
The rapper known as Childish Gambino, more popular under his acting name Donald Glover has been cast as a young Lando Calrissian in the upcoming stand-alone Han Solo film releasing in 2018.
Also cast in the 2017 film Spider-Man: Homecoming in an unspecified role, Donald Glover is certainly getting his fair share of love from Disney.
Donald Glover is best known for the show Community, where he was part of the Abed and Troy duo, and more recently created and starred in FX’s Atlanta, which was released with rave reviews.
“We’re so lucky to have an artist as talented as Donald join us,” said directors Lord and Miller. “These are big shoes to fill, and an even bigger cape, and this one fits him perfectly, which will save us money on alterations. Also, we’d like to publicly apologize to Donald for ruining Comic-Con for him forever.”
Glover will join Alden Ehrenreich — previously cast as Han Solo — in bringing two iconic Star Wars characters back to the big screen on the events before the original trilogy. Rumors are spinning on the internet at Alden Ehrenreich may have a cameo role in this year’s Rogue One film in order to introduce him to audiences.
