Toy Fair ’17: The Fraggle Rock Collection (Super Impulse)
Now, while this isn’t *technically* Disney… I know a lot of our readers are big fans of Jim Henson’s work. Of course he created The Muppets, now part of Disney, and Sesame Street. However, he also was the mind behind Fraggle Rock. Once a very successful children’s TV show that totaled almost 100 episodes over 5 seasons, recently the show has seen a resurgence in popularity. With rumors floating around of an upcoming movie reboot, collectibles based on the show are starting to become more popular. One of the toy companies that hope to provide such collectibles is Super Impulse. I had a chance to meet with them at Toy Fair to check out what they are bringing to the market in 2017.
From Super Impulse’s official press release on their site:
Super Impulse has teamed up with The Jim Henson Company to bring a line of Fraggle Rock inspired toys to retail shelves.
The initial launch will boast Fraggle Rock 10-inch plush characters, plush backpack clips, a six-inch beanbag plush and 15-inch feature plush.
“Fraggle Rock is an iconic classic and we are over the cave thrilled to have partnered with The Jim Henson Company to bring the brilliant puppetry from the timeless show to today’s generation,” said Alan Dorfman, founder of Super Impulse.
“Filled with fun characters, music, and life lessons that are as relevant today as they were in the ’80s when a generation of today’s parents grew up with Fraggles, kids will love these characters as their new best friends.”
I am looking forward to seeing how this line develops throughout 2017 and beyond. I am especially interested in the vinyl figures i saw, which will hopefully make their way to store shelves later this year.
What do you think of this new line of Fraggle Rock collectibles? Will you be adding any of them to your collection?
